This may be entitled “Autumn” update but it still feels as if we’re in the final stages of a slowly fading summer. The leaves on the trees are not really turning to their glorious shades of browns and golds as of yet but that will come soon enough.
The days are slightly cooler as, in the Village Store, we find ourselves closing the door to Parsons Lane as opposed to propping it open, as in the summer months. Needless to say, we are open for business as ever!
New products are coming in, for example we have recently taken delivery of a range of the ever-popular Swaadish Curry Sauces, all of them made with totally natural ingredients. We recommend you try them with left over meats and veggies to make a warming supper-time curry, simply delicious!

Continuing our recent theme of local products, many of you, we know, love our Brightwell Bees Honeys, both runny and set. Did you know (apart from the name!) that the hives are kept in Brightwell-cum-Sotwell and surrounding villages and owned by artisan beekeepers, Viv and Steve. The hives are in gardens, orchards, by wild flower meadows, on the edge of woodland, in nature reserves and by the River Thames and in the heart of productive farmland. Twice a year, the honey is harvested. Honeybees will gather ivy pollen and nectar right through until the end of October so don’t chop down that ivy growing on your garden wall! Whether you spread it on toast, drizzle it on your morning porridge, please keep buying it from us, you’re helping to support local bees and beekeepers, so important for pollination.

All the staff and volunteers extend a warm welcome to all our customers, we look forward to seeing you in your Village Store!
