Summer is finally here! Blue skies and sun-dappled days. The village stages many events during this time and the recent Rose Festival in the church was one such. Here is the Village Store’s rose display, kindly provided by Louise Jaggard. So pretty!

Louise’s husband, Tim, has also provided copy for us this month, indeed a family affair!
Tim is currently requesting that we send him our photos of the village and surrounds for next year’s EVS Calendar, yes, 2026! He has to get cracking on it now in order for all the deadlines to be met so that it is ready by Christmas (so sorry to bring that word up in July…) Here is what he says:
How are photos chosen?
Photos are recognisably of, or near, Ewelme
The photo will fit with a month or season
Actions shots are close enough to see the action
The calendar is in landscape and so your photo, when cropped, should still look great
Similarly, when at A4 size, the quality is still excellent
Send your photos (or a link to cloud storage) to timwilsonhome@gmail.com or via WhatsApp (07866491674).
Returning to the current glorious weather, the shop is well-stocked with everything you need to keep you cool! The ice lolly freezer is brimming with choccie, fruity, nutty choices on a stick.
A selection of just a few are shown here:

We also have Chiltern Ice Creams and sorbets in several different flavours in larger tubs to take home and pop into your freezer. There are small tubs too, if you fancy one to have there and then. Why not scoop some on our delicious strawberries, sold in punnets? The sweet, juiciness of ours far outstrips any local supermarket varieties!
The chilled rosé wines, together with the whites are very reasonably priced, we try to keep our prices down. A chilled glass of rosé outside on a summer’s evening takes a lot of beating! Maybe you’re a chilled lager type of person? We have plenty of those too.
Finally, we would like to welcome Weekday Manager, Tracey Stringer, to the Management Committee. Her invaluable experience in the day to day running of the shop will be a huge asset to us all.
Happy Summer everyone!
